NDIA and NDIS

In March 2013 the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) was created and full Scheme began rolling out across Australia in 2016. Enable Opportunities Support the NDIS and the importance of independence, choice and control for our client’s to be at the center of their life and decision-making process.

What is the NDIA?

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is an independent statutory agency. Their role is to implement the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), designed to help improve disability services and provide greater control and decision making to Australians with disability.

The NDIA’s focus is on:

  • providing individualised plans for people with disability,
  • coordinating service bookings, payments and access to plans for providers,
  • detect and investigate allegations of fraud.

You may be eligible to receive support through the NDIA, such as help to purchase disability support services, aids, and equipment from a variety of providers. Any support provided will depend on your individual circumstances.

Price Guides and Information

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) sets the price for some supports to make sure they provide value for money for our clients. Changes to prices are updated to respond to market trends and changes in costs and are generally identified through an Annual Price Review. The Annual Price Review is undertaken by the NDIA in the lead up to new financial year, with any new prices outlined in an updated price guide, effective 1 July each year. More information can be found here: Pricing Reference Group helps guide NDIS price regulation activities and decisions and Annual Price Review for the latest updates.

What is the NDIS?

An eligible person (known as a participant) is funded to purchase services, aids and equipment from a variety of providers.

As a person’s circumstances or condition changes, they will be able to apply to have their funded plan adjusted. The NDIS is not means tested for access to the individualized support provided through the NDIS.
